Karmakanix is and has been one of Berkeley's most trusted Audi & Volkswagen shops since 1995. With three decades of experience, shop owner Steve Nechodom has built one of the most loyal clientele bases in the Bay Area with customers coming from as far away as Santa Cruz, Sacramento and even Alaska!
Originally located on 10th Street and Dwight, Karmakanix moved to 707 Jones Street in May 2008, to a larger facility to serve our expanding client list. It is also easily accessible from Interstate-80's University or Gilman exits. Our valet staff can also pick you up or drop you off at the North Berkeley BART station if necessary. With Volkswagen's dedicated fanbase and Audi's new-found surge in popularity, its important for Audi & VW owners to find a reliable source for all their vehicle's repair and maintenance needs.
While spending the better part of 30 years working exclusively on VW's and Audi's, it is safe to say that shop owner Steve Nechodom has established a reputation for honesty, thoroughness, and integrity. Specializing in repair, maintenance, and vehicle upgrades, our service has become well respected and we're proud to do much of our business through customer referrals.
Although Karmakanix has been in business since 1995, some of our customers have been working with us for over 20 years. We always recommend repairs that address your car's problems directly and will maximize the life of your car. While our experienced technicians are attentive to your repair orders they also try to diagnose and anticipate future issues your vehicles might encounter. From end-to-end our technicians will check your vehicle and its overall health. Karmakanix stresses pre-emptive measures and customer service so our clients are always informed about the issues their vehicle might have when they leave our facility.
Unfortunately a vehicle can break down anytime so we have several towing options should you find yourself on the side of the road. Have a seat in our lobby for quick fixes and fast turnaround times or take a walk down to the shoppes on the 4th Street Promenade just a few blocks down.
In 2007 Karmakanix expanded in size as well as began over-the-counter sales for VW & Audi parts. We strive to maintain our service knowledge and equipment as the new models emerge. Karmakanix covers factory scheduled maintenance repairs from 5k,10k, 20k, 40k, 80k and beyond. Major services include timing belt, water pump, cylinder head rebuilds, engine installations and drivetrain repairs. We highly suggest inspection for all vehicles still under factory warranty- before it runs out!
Don't let the dealer tell you oil changes can be performed in 10k mile intervals; synthetic motor oil user users can go 5k miles and regular motor oil users can go 3.5k miles- remember it's your vehicle. We also happily accept insurance and extended warranty repairs. From water-cooled Vanagons and Biodiesels to Turbo-Diesels and Quattros- our technicians are experienced to handle a wide variety of repairs. From the Audi A3 to S8 and the Volkswagen Golf to Volkswagen Phaeton, Karmakanix strives to stay on the leading-edge of vehicle service.
