About Us

Karmakanix is and has been one of Berkeley's most trusted independent Audi and Volkswagen repair shops since 1995. With three decades of experience, shop owner Steve Nechodom has built one of the most loyal clientele bases in the Bay Area with customers coming as far away as Santa Cruz, Sacramento and even Alaska! Originally located on 10th and Dwight in Berkeley, Karmakanix was started with no employees, one car lift, and Steve's passion for cars. Now 15 years later we have relocated twice and have a team of fourteen great people. Our capabilities and capacity have grown exponentially, and so has our passion for not only the cars we work on, but for the community and the loyal customers we serve.

Our mission is to change the traditional ill attitude towards independant shops through honest, knowledgeable, and customer-oriented service by using an easy-to-understand communication approach. This way, you stay well informed throughout your vehicle’s visit to our shop. At Karmakanix, we strive to recommend repairs that address problems directly and ultimately extend the life of your vehicle. While our experienced team is very attentive to your needed repairs, Karmakanix also practices a preventative-measures strategy by taking extra steps to inspect and anticipate future issues your vehicle may encounter.
